WHAT WE DO

Lantern Hill offers unique experiences where groups and individuals of all ages can spend time serving those in need, learn about issues of social justice and poverty and experience the culture of Baja California, Mexico. We match your personal gifts to the needs of our communities, programs and partner organizations. We do not have a mold that you “fit into.” Together, we create an organic journey, set to the tone in which best suits you, your family or your youth group. Through our intensive learning opportunities, servant projects, various daily programs and reflective processing time, we will stand beside you and guide you through your experience. This processing time, combined with activities designed to get you thinking and developing your servant heart, will lead you into a rhythm of service that will begin to change your perspectives and offer you a new way of looking at the world.

WHY

Why would we do this? Lantern Hill believes we have a calling to serve those in need. Through transformational experiences, difficult surroundings, joyful people, servant learning and opportunities for people to learn to love and understand eachother, we believe that our world can change for the better. Lantern Hill believes in caring for those who have fallen victim to injustices, poverty and geographical happenstance. Lantern Hill hopes to nurture new behaviors and attitudes that will determine a new life of serving those in need so that there may someday never be a need to serve those in poverty any longer.

BELIEFS

Lantern Hill has it’s roots in the ELCA Lutheran Church, it’s theology and it’s overwhelming care for the Global community. We engage our partner communities and relationships within the framework of the Accompaniment Model. Building healthy relationships, standing beside our servant friends, pursuing peace, social justice and caring for our neighbor with the same love Christ has shown us motivates our work each day. We are always open to the work of the Holy Spirit in our service to EVERYONE regardless of belief, race, socio-economic status, language, or religion. God’s work is in the hands of those serving their neighbor.

Partners in Mission

Lantern Hill is partnered with a Mexican Non-Profit “Sembrodores del Rey.” The founders of this mission are Javier and Martha Felix Lomeli and family.
