We welcome all current college and seminary students to participate with Lantern Hill in our month long cross cultural experience designed especially for you! Come to Baja California, Mexico and work in our newly renovated Community Center, located in the heart of Colonia 89, Ensenada, teaching English, Art, serving in the community, helping rebuild children’s rooms, painting, playing, helping with our children’s church and much more.

Lantern Hill follows the ELCA mission of accompaniment when it comes to servant learning. Our “stand beside you” method allows for critical thinking, intense discussion, “be” time, and most importantly, sharing of stories with those we are serving and listening to the stories of those serving us.

Lantern Hill has made this experience very affordable and flexible for you to attend. Here’s how affordable it is: Remember, EVERYTHING is included in this price except your airfare into and out of San Diego and 3 meals:

7 day experience : $650

10 day experience: $850

14 day experience: $1150

Colleges and Seminaries hold a very special place in our hearts. College groups have rebuilt homes, put on new roofs and generally work and play incredibly hard. Seminary groups have ministered in ways that have made lasting impacts on our Christian Ministry Partners. We match your personal gifts to the needs of our communities and partner organizations. Your trip is designed around your needs. Through our intensive learning opportunities and reflective processing time, we will stand beside you and guide you through your experience. We provide activities designed to get you thinking and developing your servant heart and lead you into a rhythm of service that will begin to change your perspectives and offer you a new way of looking at the world. ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK :

February, March and April we will offer a 10% discount for all colleges and seminaries that wish to book a servant experience.

CROSS CULTURAL CREDITS:

College or seminary students wishing to use their time at Lantern Hill as a cross cultural or credit course should contact Lantern Hill to begin the process. We will work with you to complete your requirements and fulfill your study.

2013 LANTERN HILL SERVANT EXPERIENCES / COLLEGE STUDENTS AND SEMINARIES*

INCLUDES: food, lodging, guides, regular programming, learning opportunities, language translation, servant projects and transportation to and from San Diego to Lantern Hill. *Lantern Hill accommodations do not include coordinating or including airline travel

It costs Lantern Hill approximately $75 per day per person to accommodate you during your service trip, and we have only a limited ability to subsidize trips. Therefore, if you can afford to pay, we ask that you provide us with a donation of at least $75 per day to cover our operating costs during your stay. If you cannot afford to cover the cost of your accommodations, please contact us for information on full and partial scholarships. If you can afford to contribute more than $75 per day, your added donation would be very appreciated, and it would enable us to extend scholarships and subsidized trips to those with financial needs.

*servant trip deposits are non-refundable but transferrable to new participants and can be applied to future trips in the event of a cancellation

PARTICIPANTS FLYING INTO SAN DIEGO

ALL ARRIVALS INTO SAN DIEGO NEED TO BE SCHEDULED BEFORE 2PM AND ALL DEPARTURES OUT OF SAN DIEGO NEED TO BE SCHEDULED AFTER 12NOON. No exceptions. Groups who book flights outside of our desired time-frames will be responsible for the lodging, travel and all costs associated with staying in San Diego. Travel times to and from the border effect overall travel arrangements and are very important to abide by.

SERVANT TRIP DONATION PAYMENT SCHEDULES (Groups or Individuals)

In order to reserve the dates you desire a $100 non-refundable deposit is due immediately for each participant. Once reserved, 50% of your groups total donation is due 120 days prior to your servant experience and your final donation is due 45 days prior to servant experience. Please understand that timely payments help us continue to offer our ministry programs,support ministry partners, & keep Lantern Hill serving!
